We’re excited you’re considering applying to be a Skate Canada sanctioned Club or Skating School!
Below you’ll find a simple overview of what to expect, your responsibilities as an applicant, and how the process works from start to finish.
Your Role as an Applicant
As you begin your application, you will:

Review the full online application form

Familiarize yourself with the Club and Skating School Operating Requirements and all relevant Skate Canada policies.

Connect with Section office to arrange an initial meeting to review/ask questions if needed.

Complete and submit your application honestly and in good faith.

Provide all required documentation along with online application – allow up to 8 weeks for processing once your complete application is received.

How the Process Works
Here’s what you can expect:
- Complete the Application
Fill out the Club/Skating School Application available on your Section’s website. - Submit Your Application
Submit all required documents to your Section.
Processing may take up to 8 weeks from the time a complete application is received.
Section Review
Skate AB | NT | NU Section will:
- Review your application for completeness
- Communicate with you regarding your application status
- Put forward to the section Membership Committee to review for recommendation of approval or denial
National Review & Decision
Following review of the section Membership Committee, Skate Canada will:
- Review the Section’s recommendation
- Consult with the Section as needed
- Issue a final decision
Final Notification
Applicants will receive a joint letter from your Section and Skate Canada confirming whether your application has been approved or denied.
If Your Application Is Approved
Congratulations!
Skate Canada will work with you to complete the registration process. Once all required steps are finalized, your Club or Skating School will be authorized to operate.
If Your Application Is Not Approved
You are welcome to submit a new application in the future. Please note there is no appeal process for applications that are not approved.
