Ensuring the safety of Section athletes, families, volunteers and coaches is of utmost importance for the Skate AB|NT|NU Section.
- Skate Canada Coaches are required to always have a current certification in Respect In Sport for Activity Leaders throughout the season to maintain In Good Standing status with both Skate Canada and the Section
- Skate Canada Officials are required to always have a current certification in Respect in Sport for Officials throughout the season to maintain In Good Standing status with both Skate Canada and the Section
- Skate AB|NT|NU Club Board of Directors and Skating School Directors are required to have a current certification in Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders by December 15th annually as one (of two) requirements for the Club to maintain In Good Standing Status with the section.
- Skate AB|NT|NU Board of Directors, Region Representatives and Employees must maintain current Respect in Sport for Activity Leader Certification throughout the season.
The Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Certification has demonstrated enhanced effectiveness and leadership within every area of the Section when all participants (Clubs or Skating Schools (i.e. Board of Directors), Coaches, Officials, Leadership) fully understand the theory behind Respect in Sport AND are able to implement the same safety guidelines to be able to support the Coaches and collaborate with their athletes’ families to ensure a safe environment.
The Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Certification is FREE to all Club Board of Directors and Skating School Directors, however the training must be accessed via the Skate Canada Membership Site to qualify.
Clubs must complete and submit a consolidated report (template below) of 100% Club Board Members Certificate Details to memberservices@skateabnwtnun.ca by December 15th annually.
