Official Awards
Section Official Award
This award is presented to an active official within Skate AB|NT|NU that has given quality service at the Section level or lower.
This award will be presented to one person in each of the nine Skate AB|NT|NU Regions. The Region winner will be selected by the Local Region Awards Selection Committee. An overall Section Winner will then be selected from the Region winners by the Skate AB|NT|NU Awards Selection Committee.
The Award will be presented to the Section winner at the Skate AB|NT|NU Annual Awards Banquet who best meets the following criteria:
Criteria
- A Skate Canada technical representative, evaluator, judge, referee, technical controller, technical specialist or data specialist who is currently registered with Skate Canada
- Active at the Section level or lower for at least five years
- Demonstrates a knowledge of Skate Canada rules, policies, philosophies and programs
- Is keen to share accurate information with other officials, athletes, coaches, parents and administrators with the interest/intent of developing figure skating and figure skaters in Canada
- An individual who has given quality service to the Section and the organization in general

25 & 50 Year Officials Service Award
Recognizes those officials who have contributed 25 and 50 years of service to the sport of figure skating. The Section office tracks the number of years of service for all Section officials. Officials reaching the 25 and 50 year milestone will be notified by the Section office on an annual basis.
John Vipond Official’s Scholarship
This scholarship is given to a Section official who is striving towards becoming an accomplished official. The official will be an established official who needs assistance in reaching a higher level through experience or training opportunities and is attending a post-secondary institution while working on achieving this goal.

National Official Awards
National Grassroots Official Award
Active officials (judges, referees, technical controllers, technical specialists and data specialists) who have only been active at the section level or lower (or regional level or lower for synchronized skating) are eligible. Nominations should be made by officials, coaches, team managers, or any member of the Skate Canada Board of Directors, Section Board of Directors, Section Judge/Evaluator Chairs, or Section Data Specialist Chairs.
Criteria
Nominees must meet the minimum criteria defined below and must consent to their nomination.
- An official who is currently registered and in good standing with Skate Canada
- Only officiated at the section level or lower (or the regional level or lower for synchronized skating)
- Officiated at a minimum of one event or assessment day in the current season
- Demonstrated knowledge of Skate Canada programs philosophies, vision and mission
- An official who is keen to share accurate information with other officials, athletes, coaches, parents/guardians and coaches with the interest of developing skating in Canada
- An official who has given, and will continue to provide, quality service at the club or section level
- Embodies and exemplifies Skate Canada values of safety, integrity, collaboration, excellence and innovation This award will be presented to one person at the Skate Canada Ice Summit. Skate Canada reserves the right to not present an award in any given year. The Skate Canada President, chair of the OJET Committee, and Senior Manager Performance Excellence and Officials will select the winner.

National Official Award

- Demonstrated knowledge of Skate Canada programs philosophies, vision and mission
- An official who is keen to share accurate information with other officials, athletes, coaches, parents/guardians and coaches with the interest of developing skating in Canada
- An official who has given, and will continue to provide, quality service at the section, national and/or international level
- Embodies and exemplifies Skate Canada values of safety, integrity, collaboration, excellence and innovation
*National events include Skate Canada Challenges, Canadian Tire National Skating Championships and Novice Canadian Championships/ Skate Canada Cup, and the Regional Synchronized Skating Championships.
This award will be presented to one person at the Skate Canada Ice Summit. Skate Canada reserves the right to not present an award in any given year. The Skate Canada President, chair of the Officials Assignment and Promotion Committee, staff lead of the Officials Assignment and Promotion Committee will select the winner.
