Alberta Tourism and Sport invites volunteers to apply to be Team Alberta North Mission Staff at the 2026 Arctic Winter Games, taking place March 8 - 15, 2026 in Whitehorse, Yukon by Friday April 4, 2025.
Volunteer Role Background:
The Mission Staff have a key role as members of Team Alberta North, acting as a liaison between individual sports and the Arctic Winter Games organizational structure. Mission Staff members must reside north of the 55th parallel, and represent the sport community in northern Alberta.
Mission Staff members are volunteers who do not receive payment for their services at the Games or compensation for time off work. Pre-approved travel and other expenses required to perform duties will be reimbursed, or an honorarium provided.
About the Arctic Winter Games:
In 1967, the Arctic Winter Games were born from a desire to provide athletes from the North with a platform to shine. Today, the Games are more than just a multi-sport event; they are a celebration of culture, community, and personal growth. From the first Games in 1970 to the upcoming 2026 event, the Arctic Winter Games have become a cornerstone of northern identity, fostering intergenerational connections and lifelong friendships.

Please share the Mission Staff duties and the Team Alberta North application with anyone in your sport community who may be qualified and interested in becoming a volunteer member of Team Alberta North’s Mission Staff for the 2026 Arctic Winter Games.
Applications including a resume and a letter of support must be received by Friday, April 4, 2025.
