STAR 6-Gold Evaluator Training

Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut is seeking interested individuals to be trained as STAR 6 – Gold Evaluators. Evaluators are officials responsible for assessing skaters within the STAR 6 – Gold.

We will be holding an in-person Evaluator Training Seminar in Calgary on Saturday May 23, 2020.  This one-day seminar will feature an introduction to effective evaluating skills, training on feedback and communication, discipline overviews and much more.

This training is reserved for officials, coaches do not qualify to attend this training. We are therefore reaching out to individuals currently involved or new to the officiating community. Interested individuals must meet the criteria outlined below to participate: 

  • 16 years of age
  • Skating Background:
    Any two of Junior Bronze/STAR 5 Free Skating, Skills, Dance; or
  • Any one Senior Bronze/STAR 6 Free Skating, Skills, Dance or a Juvenile Competitive test; or
  • Any one higher level test 

 Course details:

Course Participation Fee: No charge

  • Travel and accommodations: some travel expenses will be covered for those with existing officials status, no coverage provided to new candidates with no officials status
  • Date/Time: Saturday May 23, 2020 from 9am to 5pm

Program Component Webinar

ISU Level Official Beth Crane delivered an interactive session to a small group of judges to review some of the key concepts covered this summer during the ISU PC Seminar in Frankfurt. This video is meant to be used as a source of continuing education for all Skate Canada judges (applicable to all levels of promotion and all disciplines). The webinar raised valuable thoughts and perspectives when assigning PC scores.
