Executive Director – Marc Stromme

Marc joined the Section office in February 2015 and comes from an extensive background in Sport, Recreation and Business Administration. With a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation Administration (MASRA) and Business Administration (MBA), his background includes working as a Team Coordinator and Facility Manager with Volleyball Canada. Marc leads the following areas:

  • Marketing and sponsorship
  • Partnership development
  • Public relations
  • Development of policies and procedures for the Section
  • Finance, operations and administration
  • Management of the Section office

Member Services Manager – Kelly Havixbeck

Kelly is a graduate of Mount Royal University with a diploma in Recreation and Sport Administration. Kelly was a competitive ice dancer at the national level and she joined the Section office in 2003. She provides assistance to clubs in the following areas:

  • Membership and registration support
  • Club policies and procedures
  • Reviews club by-laws
  • Assists with dispute resolution for clubs and members

Athlete Development Manager – Holly Henderson

Holly has been involved in the sport of figure skating her entire life, as a skater, coach, Section Board member and now as Athlete Development Manager. Her knowledge of the sport provides assistance to skaters and coaches and is the main support role for athletes in our Section.

  • Athlete development and support
  • Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD)
  • Talent identification
  • Oversees the development and organization of Section Teams: Junior Development, Challenge and Nationals
  • Monitoring/Assessments of athletes

Program Development Coordinator – Lisa Bonderove

Lisa Bonderove is a graduate of the University of Alberta, with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration. She was a competitive synchronized skater and coach from grassroots to International levels. She joined the Section office in April 2008 and currently provides support to Officials, Skating Programs and Teams.

Programs Support:

  • Oversees Special Olympics, Adult Skating, Synchronized Skating, Recreational Skating, and Inclusive Skating.

Team Support:

  • Acts as Team Manager and provides assistance to the Junior Development and Select Teams.

Events Coordinator – Abby Kozma

Abby joined the office in 2017 and has been involved in figure skating as a skater and a coach. She is currently in this position part time as she finishes up her studies for Business Management. She provides event support in the following areas:

  • Is the staff support role to the Section Competition Committee and helps to support the implementation of Section competitions
  • Provides support, advice, and tools/templates to Local Organizing Committees in hosting competitions in the Section
  • Coordinates and manages the implementation of the Leading Edge Series
  • Supports the development and organization of Live Streaming in the Section
  • Processes and provides support for competition sanctions, ribbon and medal orders and equipment requests for competitions
  • Works with the Event Technicians and Live Streaming volunteers in their recruitment, training and development

Coaching & Administrative Coordinator – Leona Boyle

Leona has been involved in the sport of figure skating her entire life, as a Skater, Coach, Section Board member, Learning Facilitator and now works part-time in the office as Coaching and Administrative Coordinator. Her knowledge of the sport provides assistance to the other section office staff

Coach Support:
  • NCCP Course Administrator for CanPower, CanSkate, ISPC, Levels 3-5; including the organization of course and registration processing and facilitating the marking of workbooks
  • Oversees and coordinates Special Permission Requests for Coaches
  • Coach communications and support
  • Oversees the Coach Hiring Guide
  • Provides assistance and clarification to clubs in regards to coaching certification requirements for each program
  • Providing coordination support for seminars, workshops, competitions and events
  • Provides assistance in administering the various awards programs and providing database input for coaches, officials and skaters
