Section Awards – Volunteers & Clubs

2018 Award Nomination Contest

Any Section club or skating school that submits at least 2 award nominations will be entered into a draw for a chance to win 2 all-event tickets to the Section AGM & Annual Awards Banquet to be held on May 5, 2018 in Edmonton.

When a club or skating school submits 4 or more award nominations, the club/skating school will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win 2 tickets for the Skate Canada Awards Banquet being held in Calgary, May 2018. The Skate Canada Awards Banquet is a celebration of an Olympic season!


Marilyn Chidlow Volunteer Award

The Marilyn Chidlow award recognizes the efforts of grassroots volunteers who work diligently to ensure club skating programs and skating family members are successful. In support of volunteers dedicated to the Section’s Clubs and Skating Schools, the Section would like to recognize one volunteer in each club and skating school per year. In recognition, a lapel pin and certificate will be provided to the recipients of this award.

The Marilyn Chidlow Volunteer Award is a once in a lifetime award.

Volunteer Award

This award recognizes an active Club and/or Region volunteer whose contributions reflect passion for the sport and its participants, and is a role model for other volunteers, coaches and skaters.

Volunteer Award of Excellence

This award recognizes an active Club and/or Region volunteer whose contributions reflect passion for the sport and its participants, and is a role model for other volunteers, coaches and skaters. This individual has a minimum of 10 years volunteer work with the sport of figure skating.

25 & 50 Year Service Award

Recognizes those coaches, volunteers, clubs/skating schools and officials who have contributed 25 and 50 years of service to the sport of figure skating. The Section tracks the club/skating school and officials years of service and notifies eligible recipients on an annual basis.

Elizabeth Swan Memorial Award

This award recognizes an individual for his/her dedication and contribution to the discipline of synchronized skating in Canada.

Event Volunteer Award of Excellence

The purpose of the Skate Canada Event Volunteer Award of Excellence is to recognize the dedication and achievements of the volunteer in this category.  The recipient will be selected for his/her unique advancement and outstanding contributions to our sport in the successful execution of an international or domestic event hosted by Skate Canada during the past year.
