Alberta Figure Skating Foundation Awards

Triple Gold Award

This is a once only lifetime award presented to a skater who has completed any three disciplines of FreeSkate, Dance, Skating Skills, or Interpretive at Gold Level.

Quadruple Gold Award

This is a once only lifetime award presented to a skater who has completed all four disciplines of FreeSkate, Dance, Skating Skills, and Interpretive at Gold Level.

Note: Skaters must be members of the Alberta Figure Skating Foundation by December 31, 2016 in order to qualify to apply for these awards.

Gateway SC
Gateway Skating Club Post-Secondary Bursary

This award was created to celebrate the Gateway Skating Club’s 50 year anniversary in 2014 as a registered club with Skate Canada. The purpose of the award is to encourage skaters to continue competing while pursuing post-secondary education, keeping with the principles of Canadian Sport for Life.

CanSkate Athlete Award

This award recognizes skaters who have shown enthusiasm and dedication to the CanSkate program throughout the skating season. Through their participation in the program, recipients of this award have demonstrated the talent and desire needed to find continued success on and off the ice.

CompetitiveSkate Athlete Award

This award recognizes individual skaters or a pair or ice dance team that exhibits spirit, dedication, and determination, and is a positive role model for other athletes.

Program Assistant Award

This award recognizes dedicated and passionate Program Assistants who continuously share Skate Canada’s vision with all participants of the program. This award is presented to individuals who are not only great assets to the coaching team on the ice, but also show their commitment off the ice by providing support and assistance to the club and their members.

STARSkate Athlete Award

This award recognizes skaters who have demonstrated determination and commitment to the STARSkate program. Recipients of this award have displayed passion for the sport and have achieved success throughout the season, not only within the STARSkate testing system but also with personal skill development and growth. *Note: The test passed criteria has been removed from this award.

Creating the Edge for Life

This award is presented to an adult skater who pushes themselves towards new goals, continues to challenge their ability, and raise the standard in Adult Skating. This adult displays good sportsmanship and inspires skaters of all ages and levels to continue developing their own skating abilities.

Spirit & Passion of Skating Award

This award will be presented to a skater that is passionate about the sport of figure skating, and through their enthusiasm, motivates and encourages other adults to follow their dreams. This skater is also a positive role model to skaters of all ages and demonstrates that the dream to skate, or continue to skate, is possible.

Special Olympics Skater of the Year Award

This award recognizes the dedication and achievements of Special Olympics skaters within the Section. The recipient will be selected for their commitment, passion and spirit.
